The continuing growth in waste quantities of computer equipment and their bad images with the public has led to the development of a waste management policy aimed at reducing volumes and reducing their impact on the environment. However, an efficient treatment uses different methods and processes depending on the materials and therefore requires prior sorting. The objective of this thesis was to develop a process using the triboelectric effect to ensure the selective charging of plastic granules and the forces of the electric field to separate them according to their nature and also the realization of a new installation of electro-separation with concentric electrode and its use with this new device. The study is made with samples of the following insulators: PC, PA, ABS, PVC and HIPS, with grain sizes (up to 4 mm diameter). The efficiency of these two installations was tested for the first one by presenting a granular mixture loaded in an electrostatic conveyor belt separator and for the second by introducing a loaded granular mixture with the new tribo-loading device in our new installation d electro-separation. The separation of a mixture of three insulators was achieved. Key words: Device, Electrostatic separation, Electric field, Insulation, Materials, Triboelectricity.
Abstract (English) : Twenty years ago, the majority of plastic recycling concerns were only about the reassessment of these materials. Today, this category of materials is experiencing a major trend due to its increasing volume. This increase in volume presents a concern to the recovery and recycling industry. Conventional methods of densimetric or gravitational flotation have not been able to achieve satisfactory results in terms of efficiency, until the electrostatic technique appeared as a viable, efficient and less energy consuming technology for the recycling of plastic materials. Several studies of electrostatic separation of insulating granular materials have been carried out. The objective of this work is the realization and the experimentation of a new installation of electrostatic separation of granular mixtures of millimetric size based on rotating electrodes. The difference in separation efficiency from the static to the rotating state has been demonstrated. This was confirmed theoretically by simulations that were carried out via the Matlab program, which showed a compatibility between the two models of more than 93%.
