Abstract Metabolic syndrome is a complex and multifactorial physiological disorder that contributes to increased cardiovascular risk and type 2 diabetes. Obesity has become a major risk factor in the occurrence of this syndrome and much concern is now given to its treatment by health workers of many countries. Obesity is often associated with a chronic inflammatory state due to sedentariness and malnutrition. Several clinical investigations have reported that the adoption of healthy life (physical exercices and healthy nutrition) was an efficient strategy against complications linked to obesity. Much attention was given by scientists to the association of probiotic bacteria and isomers of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in order to be used as anti-obesity and anti-inflammatory supplement. The main objective of this study is to determine the beneficial effects of CLA produced by probiotic bacteria. These strains include Lactobacillus rhamnosus LIBRE-LSAS and Bifidobacteriumanimalissubsplactis Bb12, which were first explored for their ability to bioconvert linoleic acid to its conjugated isomers (CLA) in Vitro and in Vivo using a five-week-old male Wistar rats fed high-fat diet . Aiming to explore the effects of produced CLA on obesity and associated inflammatory state, rats received a daily dose of studied strains separately supplemented with 1.4% of linoleic acid. Obtained results revealed that both, the two strains were able to produce CLA isomers in Vitro and in Vivo having an anti-obesity, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Key-words: Probiotics- Conjugated- Linoleic Acid- Bioconversion- Obesity- Inflammation- Oxydative Stress.
