The psychology of marital forgivenness in the light of agreeableness emotional and spiritual intelligences
This study examined the husbands and wives forgivenness agreeableness emotional and spiritual intelligence, Within the quality of the marital relationship and depressive symptoms, And tested The plausibility of a causal model explaining the relationship between these variables
a sample of 80 married couples (n=160 ) completed the following scales :
The Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS; Thompson et all, 2005)
The Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS; Spanier, 1976)
The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II; beck et al,1996 )
The Costa & McCrae NEO Personality Inventory-Revised (NEO PI-R;.husaini, 2007)
The Schutte Self Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT; Schutte, et al, 1998)
The Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory (SISRI-24; King & DeCicco, 2009).
Results indicated that :
husbands was more forgiving spiritually intelligent and less agreeable and emotionally intelligent than there wives, the causal model indicated that wives depressive symptoms predicted actor and partner marital quality and the disposition to Self, Others and Situations Forgiveness
These results are discussed in relation to an emerging body of theory and research on the role of forgiveness in marriage.
